The Zrínyi Miklós University of National Defence celebrated the Day of the University with a wreath laying ceremony and colourful programs, and the bust of Maria Ludovika was also inaugurated in the Student Battalion building. State Secretary for Defence Dr. Ágnes Vadai also attended the inaugural ceremony and at the same time, opened the lecture series ‘Patriotism, Love of Your Country, National Defence’. 
The EUSEC-RDC, the European Union’s mission assisting the transformation of the security zone, is spending its fifth mandate in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. So far six Hungarian soldiers, among them Colonel Sándor Nagy - according to whom it is a very difficult assignment - have participated in the program the aim of which is to reform the military. On the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of Hungarian military filmmaking after the Second World War, the Ministry of Defence and the MoD Zrínyi Communications Nonprofit Co. held a jubilee event in the Stefánia Palace on Friday. Minister of Defence Dr. Imre Szekeres was also present at the gala.
The Honvéd Ensemble held their extraordinary company meeting on Monday. Medals were also awarded during the event: in addition to the prizes awarded to the members of the ensemble, Defence Minister Dr. Imre Szekeres also received a commemorative plaque. Ádám Horváth and László Seregi, the former members of the Honvéd Ensemble were also present at the extraordinary meeting.
Four years ago, on January 19, 2006, the whole of Europe learned the name of Hejce, a small village in northern Hungary. It was near this village, the population of which is only 270, that the AN–24 aircraft of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic crashed with 43 peacekeepers on board who were returning from the Kosovo mission. 
He has led the Operations Center of the Hungarian Defence Forces for one and a half years, and in the coming year he will be serving in Bosnia-Herzegovina - on Monday, January 25, Brigadier General Tibor Nagy will take over as the deputy commander of the EUFOR mission of the European Union .
The Military Security Office (MSO) has always kept its distance from party politics and this will not change in the future either - Lieutenant General Ferenc Kovácsics, who has been leading the organization since November 2009, made it clear in his interview with honvedelem.hu. We discussed the secret services and the tasks of the MSO with the director general of the bureau. 
In the opinion of Ágnes Vadai, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence 2009 was a successful year despite the difficult economic-financial circumstances. In her interview with honvedelem.hu the state secretary told in detail about the duties at home and the current issues related to Hungarian missions abroad.
Despite the transport difficulties, many people turned up at Zrínyi Miklós University of National Defence (ZMNE) even in the early morning hours to learn more about the faculties and majors: we could often hear gunfire, but those who were interested in the civilian courses were not bored for a minute either. 
The Honvéd Dream Team, that entered the Budapest–Bamako Rally starting on January 16, has had a successful and productive year. Last year the team took part in five championships: with pilot Zoltán Bálint and navigator Barnabás Honfi it was fifth in the absolute evaluation of the national championship, and fourth in its category, and all this in their first season. 
The camp of the HDF PRT has to be protected not only from possible armed attacks but it is at least as important to have someone to ‘fight the battle’ with the sources of danger lying in wait inside. Such risk factors are the fires that accidentally break out in the camp.
Just a few more days, and 141 Hungarian soldiers, the personnel of the fifth rotation of the HDF EUFOR Contingent in Sarajevo will finish their service abroad. For their participation in the ALTHEA operation of the European Union, the Hungarians have been awarded the European Security and Defence Policy Service Medal and a certificate of merit signed by Secretary-General Javier Solana.
In Hódmezővásárhely the basic training of more than a hundred contracted troops is coming to an end. This type of training hasn’t been held in the garrison for years. The raw recruits have been struggling hard in the past three months to fulfil the requirements, and now they are preparing for their final examination. Honvedelem.hu reports from the garrison.    
The Zrínyi Miklós University of National Defence held a recruitment roadshow in Debrecen’s Lovarda Cultural and Conference Centre on Thursday. The aim of the all-day program was to introduce the university to the secondary school students of the famous Hungarian city and the nearby towns. 
The program series entitled ‘Remembering Don Heroes’ was launched on December 12 at the Institute and Museum of Military History. As the first stage of the program a commemoration and a wreath-laying ceremony were held on Tuesday, in the framework of which the 1940M Nimród armored vehicle and the 1936M Bofors 40 mm anti-aircraft automatic gun were also presented.
The ‘Training Program for the Reintegration of Military Personnel into the Labour Market’, the so-called Norwegian Project has arrived to an important milestone. The Hungarian trainers have recently adopted the Norwegian methods, and after the successful completion of the training, they received their certificates in Hotel Hadik on Friday.
